How long are consults?
Standard consults are 50 minutes long. In the case of family appointments a longer appointment may be required. Please discuss this with your practitioner at the time of making an appointment.
How much does it cost?
This is a fee-for-service practice. Standard consultation fees apply (see FEES). This practice does not bulk bill. Information about fees is given to you when providing informed consent for a service. Medicare card holders with a GP Mental Health Care Plan are eligible to receive a rebate. If you have private health insurance you may be eligible for a rebate from your insurer (depending on your type of cover). Please check with your health insurer before starting treatment. In some circumstances clients may want home visits (e.g. mobility issues, palliative care). Travel costs are billed separately and depend on location and distance travelled.
What age groups can be seen?
The Health Psychology Clinic sees adult clients only (aged 18 years or older).
What if I need to cancel?
You will receive a text message reminding you about your appointment a few days prior to your appointment. You can cancel your appointment via phone, email or text. If an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice you will be charged a cancellation fee. This is because practice expenses need to be covered and people on waiting lists may be able to use the appointment. However, life is not always predictable. Occasionally there are unforeseen medical circumstances or unavoidable situations, so please speak with us about this if you need to cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours notice.
